Jenna Lyons, the J. Crew creative director and president who famously made waves in the fashion industry when she filed for divorce from her husband last year after falling for another woman, has sold the impressive seven-bedroom townhouse in Park Slope she shared with her husband, according to public records filed with the city today.

The four-story townhouse, at 178 Garfield Place, featured on the cover of Domino magazine in 2009 for its impeccable interiors, sold for $4 million, records show, a significant mark-up from the $1.3 million the couple paid for it in 2004. The buyer was Vince Clarke, an English synthpop musician and songwriter and wife Tracy Hurley.

Husband-and-wife team Jeremy and Robin Stein of Sotheby’s International Realty brokered the deal on behalf of the seller; they had had the listing for just shy of a month, according to Streeteasy.com. Helen van Rhyn of Brown Harris Stevens represented the buyer.

“The owners went to great effort to keep the house feeling old while providing every modern convenience,” Robin Stein said.

The 20-foot-wide property, which was recently renovated, features original details such as plaster cornices and medallions, aged pine floors and seven restored limestone mantels. It has 3.5 bathrooms, an eat-in cook’s kitchen, a large private terrace and a cellar that has been converted to a media room for entertaining, according to the listing.

It was not immediately clear where Lyons has moved (she was not immediately available for comment), but it appears she could certainly afford a decent spread.

Under Lyon, J. Crew has become one of the most successful brands in the country, thanks in part to First Lady Michelle Obama’s fondness for the label, according to news reports.

Clarke’s record label did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
