Ellis Island to get new dining pavilion

Give me your tired, your poor — and a side of roasted vegetables?

While dining and Ellis Island aren’t exactly a natural pairing, the historic island will soon get a shiny new dining pavilion, the construction manager for the new project said in a statement released today. The new glass enclosure will have an adjustable roof for outdoor dining, weather permitting.

Acheson Doyle Partners Architects will design the pavilion, slated to be built by CNY Builders and completed by October.

“Ellis Island is a national landmark, so a lengthy review was necessary,” said Ken Colao, president of CNY Builders. “We’re honored to work on such a historically significant site, and to help enhance the experience of visitors to Ellis Island.” — Guelda Voien
