Has British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber been having regrets about selling his Trump Tower apartment?

After trying for nearly a decade to sell his four-bedroom Trump Tower duplex at 721 Fifth Avenue, the musical theater impresario behind such hits as “Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats,” sold his 5,300-square-foot apartment in 2010. But now Lloyd Webber’s wife, Madeleine Lloyd Webber, has now closed on a smaller apartment in another of Trump’s New York City buildings, Trump International Hotel & Tower at 1 Central Park West. Madeleine. Lloyd Webber’s third wife, a former equestrian, bought a 1,590-square-foot unit on the 35th floor for $5.8 million, according to public records filed with the city today. The deal closed June 25.

Andrew Lloyd Webber Sold His 59th And 60th Floor Duplex On Fifth Avenue for $16.5 million shortly after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. He has since been given the all clear. The unit, which had previously been two separate apartments and was combined by architect Joel Jevis, featured a wet bar and temperature controlled wine cellar. It was purchased by Harbour Point Holdings Ltd. It first hit the market in 2000 for $15 million and then again in 2007 for $22.5 million. The listing broker at the time of the sale was Penny Toepfer of Brown Harris Stevens.

The Lloyd Webbers’ new apartment is somewhat of a step down. It was listed with Susan James of Trump Sales & Leasing. James was not immediately available for comment. The last known asking price for the property had been $6.3 million, according to Streeteasy.com.

Andrew Lloyd Weber, who was knighted in 1992, has won even Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards, and an Academy Award, among many other honors. Several of his songs are well known hits, notably “The Music of the Night” from “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina” from “Evita” and “Any Dream Will Do” from “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

Perhaps the composer has been drawn back to New York thanks to recent revivals of His Shows On Broadway. Latin crooner Ricky Martin is currently starring in “Evita” at the Marquis theater, and a revival of “Superstar” closed July 1 at the Neil Simon Theater.
