Weiner rents pricey Park Avenue South pad

The latest question surrounding embattled former Queens politician Anthony Weiner is a real estate one. “Everyone assumes” the 254 Park Avenue South rental in which he resides with wife Huma Abedin is “free, thanks to a donor, a friend of Bill and Hillary or even just someone with an empty place who is connected,” a top Democratic fund-raiser told the New York Post.

The Post reported that the pair live in a 2,120-square-foot, four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom 12th-floor apartment in the building owned by Jack Rosen’s Rosen Partners. He oversees the American Jewish Congress and is a major political donor, especially to the Clintons. Abedin is a top aide to Hillary Clinton.

The couple reportedly pays market rate for the apartment, which would run between $12,000 and $14,000 per month, the Post said. Political sources quoted by the Post questioned how the couple could afford the apartment — especially without Weiner’s salary. But a Hillary Clinton spokesperson insisted they pay the market rate rent.

Weiner and Abedin moved into the pace shortly after they sold their Forest Hills condo. The apartment had been on the market for $3.285 million in the spring of 2011. [Post]
