Trump raised rent to keep Arianna Huffington out of Park Avenue tower

Donald Trump took his long-standing feud with Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington out of the press and into the real estate market. According to the New York Post, Trump was so adamant on making life difficult for his liberal nemesis that he raised the rent of a unit she was looking at in his Trump Park Avenue building all the way to $100,000 — just to keep her out.

“She wanted the apartment right after she did the AOL deal,” Trump told the Post. “The price wasn’t in her favor, nor did I care, because I didn’t want her in the building. She balked at the price.”

The Trump Park Avenue, at 502 Park Avenue on East 59th Street, has had several pricey rentals but only one listing ever asked $100,000 per month, according to data from Streeteasy.com: the 6,200-square-foot penthouse with 1,600 square feet of outdoor space. The priciest currently available rental is a 3,211-square-foot three-bedroom unit asking $50,000 per month.
