One month after “burrito baron” Steve Ells, CEO of fast-food tex-mex chain Chipotle, listed his West Village townhouse for $16.5 million he has slashed the price by more than $1.5 million, according to Curbed. The new asking price for the 5,000-square-foot Greek Revival house at 92 Jane Street is $14.9 million. The listing is still with Robby Browne of the Corcoran Group.

In 2007, architects Adam Gordon and Steven Harris renovated the landmarked property, adding an ultra-modern transparent rear façade and 35-foot privacy walls around the backyard. The conversion scored the unit an AIA NY Design Award that year.

Over the last few years, Ells has purchased a penthouse at 40 Fifth Avenue for $11 million from Village Voice co-founder Ed Fancher and 147 Waverly Place in March 2008 for $5.65 million, in addition to 92 Jane Street. [Curbed] – Christopher Cameron
