A ski slope could come to Astoria Park this winter. Queens Community Board 1 has approved the proposal, but there are still logistical questions surrounding the project, DNAinfo reported.

Sugarbush, the Vermont ski resort behind the idea, aims to cover one of the park’s hills in artificial snow and offer ski lessons. Classes would take place on the weekends, and the slope would be open to the public on weekdays. There would also be trailers for changing and equipment storage.

As previously reported, other plans for winter fun have fallen through recently. Wollman Rink in Prospect Park and a plan to turn McCarren Park Pool into an ice rink will not come to fruition by the time water can freeze. [DNAinfo]Zachary Kussin
