City Council member Jimmy Van Bramer said the “cosmetic” aspect of the design plans had to be altered to keep construction costs under the budget. The new plan will soon go out for bid, the Long Island City Post reported. The search for a developer could also delay the project.

The 21,500-square-foot, glass-and-cement library, located at Center Boulevard and 48th Avenue, will feature a rooftop terrace, conference room and computer center. The groundbreaking has been slated for late fall and completion of the project on tap for 2015. [LIC Post]Mark Maurer
