Park Slope residents want New York Methodist Hospital’s expansion plans to be smaller in scope and include parking, City Council member Brad Lander, who represents the area, said in a letter to hospital officials.

Locals also want hospital decision makers to Make The Road through the middle of the structure a two-way path and share renderings of the building’s facade and lobby.

Though The 506 6th Street expansion, designed to accomodate the creation of a new outpatient facility, can be executed without extensive public review, the hospital said it would address all of Landers’ concerns at a meeting Thursday at the John Jay Educational Campus auditorium, spokesperson Lyn Hill told the New York Daily News.

The proposed building may stretch as high as eight stories and could take three years to complete. As the plans currently stand, the structure will cover the entire western block of Eighth Avenue from 5th to 6th streets in Park Slope. [NYDN] Julie Strickland
