Coffee king Starbucks has opened a tea bar — the company’s first in the five boroughs — on the Upper East Side.

The spot, Teavana Tea Bar, will set up shop in a 1,700-square-foot spot at 1142 Madison Avenue, on the corner of East 85th Street, owned by 30 East 85th Street Company, an entity of Manhattan Skyline Management Corp. The location joins a chain of around 300 stores around the country that are located mostly in shopping malls.

Starbucks, whose coffee shops boast around 11,000 locations nationwide, purchased Teavana last year.

“It’s much more Zen-like than anything you’ll find in a Starbucks store,” Howard Schultz, the coffee monolith’s CEO, told USA Today. [Crain’s] and [USA Today] — Julie Strickland
