Halstead Property’s Chris Kromer is the latest New York City broker to hit the realty TV waves, with a new show set to premiere on HGTV in January.

“Beat the House,” billed as a “fresh twist on the search for a new home,” will feature Kromer competing alongside other brokers to convince couples who have already selected homes that a better option — that the broker has located — is still available. The challenge will be topping the homebuyers’ wish lists while also nabbing them the best bang for their buck.

After touring brokers’ finds, they will decide which one, if any, “beat the house” they originally chose.

Kromer, who worked as a financial consultant before turning to real estate, said via the release that his focus is always on a home that is a “smart investment.”

Kromer and JoJo Jones, a Macon, Ga.-based broker with boutique firm Sheridan, Solomon & Associates, will compete to fulfill buyers’ needs.

The show joins a robust pool of real estate reality TV programs, including Bravo TV’s “Million Dollar Listing,” and “Risky Listing,” which debuted last month on the Esquire Network. Not to speak of “House Hunters,” and “Love it or List it,” both of which air on HGTV. — Julie Strickland
