Subway pop-up space asks nearly $3K a month

Digital marketing firm Storefront is seeking a tenant to rent a 96-square-foot retail space at the site of a former newsstand in the DeKalb Avenue subway station in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, for $2,676 per month. The offering is part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s pop-up space program, which has brought retailers like Uniqlo to the approximately 13 available miniature retail spaces currently for lease in subway stations in New York City. The DeKalb spot is the only one on the market in Brooklyn.

Storefront teamed up with the MTA to rent the space, preferably to local artists or designers, said the company’s founder, Tristan Pollock. The pop-up space can be rented on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

“This helps them bring down overhead costs, pop up many times throughout the year, and test out different stores, markets, and locations,” Pollock told DNAinfo.

Retail spaces are also available in Grand Central Station and at the 61st Street stop in Woodside, Queens. [DNAinfo]Mark Maurer
