Rentals in demand: UES studios, one-bedrooms

TRD's weekly look at the most searched-for apartments

The bulk of rental searches for studios and one-bedroom apartments last week were concentrated in the Upper East Side, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website.

The Upper East Side was the most in-demand Manhattan neighborhood for rental searches overall as well, usurping Chelsea, which was No. 1 the previous week. The Upper West Side, Greenwich Village, West Village and Hell’s Kitchen rounded out the top five, respectively.

One-bedrooms raked in the majority of the market share, with 41 percent of the leads. The median rent inquiry was $2,300 per month. Two-bedrooms had 27 percent of the market and a median inquiry of $2,725.

Third-bedrooms may have the least-appreciated category, but they dominated among prospective renters searching in Central and West Harlem.

Methodology: Zumper determined the rankings by using a representative sample of emails and phone calls from renters interested in its Manhattan listings available for the week ending Feb.16.Mark Maurer
