Jared Kushner’s WiredNYC project, working in conjunction with the city’s Economic Development Corporation, has launched a new certification process to clarify landlords’ understanding of tenant wiring requirements before leases are signed.

The project has established a system that will certify buildings with a nationwide Wire Score, similar to LEED’s silver and gold rankings for green buildings, according to the New York Post. The rankings, which for WiredNYC will range from “Connected” to “Platinum,” will be noted in the CoStar Group’s database. So far, 20 buildings — including Rudin Management’s 32 Avenue of the Americas — have the highest possible ranking.

The process aids both tenants and brokers by identifying connection needs early in the lease agreement projects, and the scores can also be a marketing tool for landlords on the tenant hunt, Philip Kanfer and Arie Barendrecht of Wired Score told the Post. [NYP, 3rd item]Julie Strickland
