Rentals in demand: East Village, Chelsea studios top the list

TRD's weekly look at the most searched-for apartments

The East Village and Chelsea dominated Manhattan inquiries from prospective renters about studio apartments last week, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website.

Most of the one-bedrooms were concentrated on the Upper West Side, whereas two- and three-bedrooms were fairly distributed across the neighborhoods. The most in-demand neighborhoods for would-be renters were East Village, the Upper West Side, West Village, the Upper East Side and Soho, in order. West Village topped the list the previous week.

Methodology: Zumper determined the rankings by using a representative sample of emails and phone calls from renters interested in its Manhattan listings available for the week ending April 13. — Mark Maurer
