Work is officially underway at a new hotel in the BAM Cultural District, an area dubbed the Lincoln Center of Brooklyn.

The up-and-coming full-service, 200-room Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, situated at 95 Rockwell Place, will include a basement performance space, rooftop bar, banquet hall and ground-floor restaurant overlooking an outdoor arts plaza, according to previous reports. The Department of Buildings issued a demolition permit in late April for the small commercial building on the site, and developer Second Development Services will make use of 47,337 square feet of transferred air rights above Brooklyn’s Mark Morris Dance Group’s 3 Lafayette Avenue home.
