WEEKENDEDITION Architect Morris Lapidus made his name designing Neo-Baroque and Modern buildings in Miami, but in the 1940s he called New York City home.

Lapidus is perhaps best remembered for Miami’s Fontainebleau Hotel, which he called “the world’s most pretentious hotel,” according to Curbed. But Lapidus kept his office headquarters on 49th Street and lived in Brooklyn. Check out the retro pics below.
