Caffé Bene charges forward with NYC expansion

South Korean coffee chain planning to open 11 locations in four months

South Korean coffee chain Caffé Bene is pushing on with its rapid roll out in New York City.

The chain will nearly triple its footprint of six stores in Gotham by opening 11 more over the next four months, the Wall Street Journal reported. The company has opened in locations such as Times Square and Union Square to take advantage of traffic from locals and tourists alike, Jason Lee, Caffé Bene’s U.S. marketing manager told the Journal.

“Visibility and consumer awareness is a large part of why the New York City expansion is aggressive and a priority in the U.S. expansion,” said Mr. Lee.

In February, Caffé Bene told The Real Deal it had signed more than 80 franchisee agreements across the five boroughs. The company has tapped Blu Realty Group to find commercial space for its coffee houses.

Among its soon-to-open locations are cafes in Washington Heights, the Financial District and the Flatiron District, Along With 246 Fifth Avenue at 28th Street. Four additional leases have been signed for Manhattan, and three in Queens, the Journal reported. [WSJ] — Tom DiChristopher
