 Crain’s has rounded up the “most connected real estate execs.” It’s unclear what constitutes “being connected” – although Crain’s did offer up an explanation of how the executives made the list. What do you think? Check out the top five below.

1. Jerry Speyer
Co-founder, Tishman Speyer Properties

Number of connections: 484,721
Percentage of highly powerful people connected to him: 30.6 percent
Percentage of highly powerful organizations connected to him: 13 percent

 

2. William Rudin
Vice chairman and chief executive, Rudin Management Co.

Number of connections: 432,845
Percentage of highly powerful people connected to him: 26.8 percent
Percentage of highly powerful organizations connected to him: 11.4 percent

 

3. William Mack
Chairman, Mack Real Estate Group

Number of connections: 343,552
Percentage of highly powerful people connected to him: 24.9 percent
Percentage of highly powerful organizations connected to him: 10.8 percent

 

4. Stephen Ross
Founder, Related Cos.

Number of connections: 475,167
Percentage of highly powerful people connected to him: 25.3 percent
Percentage of highly powerful organizations connected to him: 10 percent

 
 

5. Barry Sternlicht
Chief executive, Starwood Property Trust Inc.

Number of connections: 468,657
Percentage of highly powerful people connected to him: 27 percent
