Following stalled negotiations to build a soccer facility right by Yankee Stadium, the city is reportedly now looking at other possible sites.

An elevator parts business, GAL Manufacturing Corp., currently occupies the site would have had to make way for the proposed New York City Football Club field. The club in question would be a joint venture between Manchester City owner Sheik Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan and the New York Yankees.

The owners of the New York Football Club told the garage business owner that they’re no longer interested in the location, Capital NY reported. In April, the club announced it will be playing its games in Yankee Stadium.

As of this summer’s World Cup, the de Blasio administration was looking into the financial elements that would be needed for a potential soccer agreement.

A mayoral spokesman told Capital NY that the city is still working on it.

“The de Blasio Administration continues to actively work with the City Council, surrounding communities and stakeholders to identify a location for a state-of-the-art soccer facility,” he told the website. [Capital NY] — Claire Moses
