Larry Gluck sues architect for allegedly coming up 5 ft. short

New York City real-estate mogul Laurence Gluck is suing the architect who designed his $12.5 million Hamptons mansion after the home measured five feet too short.

Gluck, who leads Stellar Management, purchased two Southampton properties for $6 million in 2012 and combined them. He then spent another $6.5 million to build the home, according to the New York Post.

Bridgehampton architect James McDonough designed the seven-bedroom, 12-bath home, which features two fireplaces, a garage, a tennis court and pavilion, a heated pool, a hot tub, an outdoor shower and a pool house.

But it wasn’t until the home was completed that he realized something was amiss.

According to Gluck, McDonough shortchanged him by five feet, leaving “virtually no attic space or room to run duct work throughout the second floor.” Gluck is seeking $500,000 in damages.

McDonough denies that any error was made.

“Absolutely not,” McDonough told The Post. “The height of the house was never once discussed.” [NYP] – Christopher Cameron
