UPDATED, 1:32 p.m., October 29: Cloud-computing giant Salesforce.com has signed a five-year lease for 30,000 square feet in one of Trinity Real Estate’s Hudson Square office buildings, The Real Deal has learned.
The San Francisco-based provider of customer service-, marketing- and sales-technologies signed a lease covering the 11th and 12th floors at 155 Sixth Avenue, according to CompStak data. Salesforce will pay rents of about $60 per square foot.
Buddy Media, which Salesforce acquired in 2012, had a sublease on the 11th through 14th floors of the 225,000-square-foot building set to expire at the end of this year. Those floors are listed as available on Trinity’s website asking $69 per square foot.
Salesforce was represented by Gus Field of Cushman and Wakefield and Dan Harvey of the brokerage’s San Francisco office, who represented the tech company in its record-breaking, 715,000 square foot lease in California in April.
Salesforce signed a 10-year, 74,349-square-foot lease at TIAA-CREF’s 685 Third Avenue in 2012. It’s also reportedly on the prowl for a large New York headquarters, possibly on Manhattan’s Far West Side.
Company founder and CEO Marc Benioff is also an investor in Urban Compass, having contributed to two rounds of fundraising leading up to the brokerage’s $360 million valuation earlier this year.
Salesforce declined to comment.
Urban Compass, coincidentally, had previously been a tenant in Trinity’s building before it left earlier this year to sublease space from Internet radio provider Pandora Media at 19 Union Square West.
