New York City’s newest priciest townhouse, a six-story mansion at 24 East 81st Street, has hit the market asking $63 million.

The 17,850-square-foot townhouse was originally built as a single-family home for early 20th century developer Jeremiah C. Lyons. The home is split up into six separate units at the moment, according to Curbed. Restaurant Crown occupies the ground floor.

Corcoran Group’s Carrie Chiang has the listing together with Brown Harris Stevens’ John Burger and Daniela Rivoir. The home includes 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and eight fireplaces.

The owners of the home are affiliated with development company Centaur Properties. Last week, the New York Daily News reported that they had been talking to the city’s top brokers about listing the property.

The Harkness Mansion at 4 East 75th Street holds the record for the priciest townhouse ever sold. Private equity mogul J. Christopher Flowers bought that property in 2006 for $53 million. [Curbed] — Claire Moses
