FAO Schwarz could soon face some Holiday competition. Hamleys, the world’s oldest toy store, has announced that it is currently searching for U.S. locations in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.
The 254-year-old London-based shop’s transatlantic push is being led by chief financial officer Alasdair Dunn, and JLL is advising the company, according to the business magazine Property Week.
“We’re looking at opportunities in the U.S. as well as through franchise partners in lots of other markets all over the world,” Dunn told Property Week.
Hamleys is also scouting for stores in Australia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Prague and Vienna. It currently operates in Denmark, India, Malaysia, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. [Property Week] –Christopher Cameron
