New York City’s subway has changed a lot since the first subway line opened in 1904 – and it continues to With The Forthcoming Second Avenue line. Now, an animated subway map created by Appealing Industries via Paste Magazine illustrates the growth of city’s public transportation line by line.

Here it is: an animated map of the NYC subway. However, as Untapped Cities noted, the map doesn’t take into account the elevated rail lines that came before the underground trains.
