Ron Burkle, George Clooney pick up Westhampton resort

The joint venture paid $19 million for the property

The Dune Deck Beach Resort in Westhampton Beach – a former Hamptons hot spot — has sold for $19 million to a developer backed by billionaire Ron Burkle, actor George Clooney and entertainment industry businessman Rande Gerber.

The sellers, Medallion Financial Corp.’s Alvin and Andrew Murstein, paid jut $700,000 for the property in 2010, according to the New York Post.

Burkle, Clooney and Gerber are developing a luxury home and golf community on a 500-acre tract of land near the site. The Dune Deck – an eight-acre facility on the ocean — would presumably become part of that project. [NYP]Christopher Cameron
