Ziel Feldman’s HFZ Capital Group is facing a suit from the owners of the Bryant Park Hotel over plans to call its new hotel and residential project “the Bryant.”

The Bryant Park Hotel, which is owned by developers Phil Pilevsky, Raymond Gindi and Joseph Chehebar, is located at 40 West 40th Street in the landmarked black-and-gold tower on the south side of the park. The group wants to block Feldman from using the name, and is also seeking $50 million in damages, the New York Post reported.

HFZ’s planned mixed-use condo and hotel would sit nearby at 20 West 40th Street. The firm purchased the lot out of foreclosure in 2010 for $46 million.

Adding an interesting dynamic to the feud, Feldman and Pivelsky previously partnered together on Miami’s Shore Club. [NYP] — Tess Hoffmann
