Fortuna Realty partnering with Starwood for latest hotel project

Aloft New York Midtown in Garment District breaking ground this month

Morris Moinian’s Fortuna Realty Group has partnered with Starwood Hotels & Resorts to develop its latest hotel project in the Garment District.

The Aloft New York Midtown is slated to open in October 2017, with work scheduled to break ground this month. The 180-room hotel will be located at 25-27 West 38th Street, two blocks from Bryant Park.

“Fortuna has acquired several key locations throughout the city and is developing a few at a time,” Moinian told The Real Deal.

In a statement announcing the hotel, Moinian added that the project “reinforces a commitment to the hospitality sector as [Fortuna] continues to grow its position as one of New York’s leading hotel developers.”

Nobutaka Ashihara Architects and Paul Vega of VLDG will design the 27-story glass-and-metal building.

Fortuna announced this week that is has selected Ismael Leyva Architects to design its new, unnamed Midtown hotel at 1150 Sixth Avenue. — Rey Mashayekhi
