Stanford takes space in Flatiron for first NYC program

The Golden State’s most exclusive school couldn’t stay away from New York City. Stanford University has inked a lease for 6,000 square feet in ABS Partners’ 915 Broadway to host a pilot program.

Stanford’s first New York City-based classes will start this fall with 20 undergraduate juniors and seniors studying arts, architecture, design and urban studies, the New York Observer reported. The program has plans to expand in future quarters.

“Stanford’s continued commitment to transformative off-campus learning experiences for undergraduate students is evident with the opening of this program, and what better place to provide this than in one of the world’s greatest cities,” said Rosina Miller, the founding director of the program.

The building is 20 stories and 250,000 square feet total. Stanford’s space will be located on the 18th floor, and the lease is for seven years. Asking rent was $80 per square foot.

Jay Caseley, Carol Sacks and Alex Kaskel represented ABS Partners in-house, and Aaron Maltz of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented Stanford.
