Hudson Cos. reveals Brooklyn’s very own Flatiron

Hudson Companies today revealed provisional designs for a new skyscraper in Brooklyn Heights that bears a striking resemblance to the Flatiron Building.

The proposed 36-story tower, at 280 Cadman Plaza West, would replace the outdated Brooklyn Heights branch of the Brooklyn Public Library and offer the borough its very own wedge-shaped alternative to the iconic Manhattan building.

The development, designed by Tribeca-based Marvel Architects, would feature 139 condo units, community and retail space and a new 21,500-square-foot library on the ground floor, according to the New York Daily News.

Hudson acquired the site for $52 million and promised to build a new library as part of its project as well as 114 affordable housing units in the neighborhood.
