Ardian president buys $15M Beresford co-op

French private equity boss manages one of Europe's largest funds, with $50B in assets

Pioneering French businesswoman Dominque Senequier picked up a $15 million pad at the Beresford on the Upper West Side last month.

Senequier, founder and CEO of private equity firm Ardian, formerly known as AXA Private Equity, bought the apartment from the estate of attorney Donald Shack in an off-market transaction.

Ardian is reportedly the largest private equity fund in Europe and 10th largest globally, with about $50 billion in assets. Senequier was one of the first seven women accepted into the Ecole Polytechnique, one of France’s top universities. She was made a chevalier of the country’s Legion of Honor in 2012, the New York Post reported.

The 23-story Emery Roth-designed Beresford, at 211 Central Park West, at 81st Street, was completed in 1929. Coke Anne Murchison Wilcox, whose father founded the Dallas Cowboys NFL franchise, bought an apartment there last year for $4.6 million. [NYP] – Ariel Stulberg
