Sean Ludwick due in court today after allegedly plotting escape

Fresh off his alleged plot to escape the country last week, a Central Islip judge today will determine whether the BlackHouse executive Sean Ludwick should await his upcoming vehicular homicide trial behind bars.

Federal marshals arrested Ludwick at his Bridgehampton home last week after returning from Puerto Rico, where authorities claim he asked hotel staff about paying all cash to buy a 50-foot boat large enough to take him to South America, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.

After a tipster informed the FBI, State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho issued a bench warrant for Ludwick’s arrest. He was in court last week and had his $1 million bond revoked.

The BlackHouse development chief is due in Central Islip court Tuesday morning to determine whether he should spend his days in jail as he waits for his upcoming trial on a 13-count indictment stemming from a fatal DWI crash that killed Douglas Elliman broker Paul Hansen over the summer.

Ludwick’s attorney, Benjamin Brafman, declined to comment.

Ludwick is accused of drunkenly crashing his Porsche into a telephone pole in August, dragging Hansen, his passenger, to the side of the road and then fleeing the scene.

He was indicted last month on nine criminal charges, including vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter. He potentially faces up to 32 years in prison.

Hansen’s widow filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Ludwick in October.
