VIDEO: Chuck Schumer is on board with plans for a new stop on the No. 7 line

Senator wants to restore proposal for a stop at West 41st Street and 10th Avenue

Looking to capitalize on $30 billion in expected revenue from the Hudson Yards subway extension, Sen. Charles Schumer on Monday called for the revival of a new stop on the recently expanded No. 7 line.

“One of the best uses of that money would be to now start to build that station,” he said during a panel held by Crain’s earlier this week. “This will create huge benefits, far more than the cost of building that extra station.”

The plans, which were abandoned a decade ago, proposed a station at West 41st Street and 10th Avenue. Sidewalk Labs CEO Dan Doctoroff said the city didn’t move forward with the stop because of the project’s hefty “$600 million or so” price tag.

“It will happen,” Doctoroff said. “It’s absolutely the right thing to do.”
