Sherwood Equities hired Jonathan Snider as its new vice president of acquisitions and development, the firm announced Wednesday. Snider joins the firm from the Moinian Group, where he was responsible for acquisitions.

Snider will oversee Sherwood’s expansion in New York. The firm owns several New York properties – including One and Two Times Square, the Saratoga at 75th Street, and 1600 Broadway – and plans to develop a 300,000-square foot tower on a Hudson Yards assemblage at 452-464 Tenth Avenue on the corner of 36th Street, which it has owned for years.

But in recent years, Sherwood has also cashed in on some of its major holdings: In September 2013, it sold a large Hudson Yards development site to Frank McCourt for $167 million. It sold two Hudson Yards parcels in 2014 to Tishman Speyer for $200 million, having paid a total of $8.1 million for them in the 1980s. And in August 2015, it sold an office building at 370 Lexington Avenue to Unizo Holdings $247 million.

At Moinian, Snider, a graduate of Harvard Business School, helped oversee the developer’s $361 million bond issuance in Israel, had a hand in several development projects and helped launch the firm’s new lending business.
