The innovation arm of Johnson & Johnson plans to open a 30,000-square-foot lab at Edward Minskoff’s 101 Sixth Avenue in Hudson Square.

Johnson & Johnson Innovation will take space on the third floor of the 23-story building, the Commercial Observer reported. The deal involves a sublease with the New York Genome Center, which signed a 20-year lease for 170,000 square feet in the building in 2012. The terms of the sublease were not immediately clear. The lab, dubbed “JLabs @ NYC,” will open in 2018.

The state will be providing $17 million to the lab as part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s $650 million program to encourage life science research development.

Other tenants in the building include Two Sigma Investments, a hedge fund that has about 110,000 square feet of space. Regus also signed a 10-year lease in 2013, taking 32,000 square feet[CO]Kathryn Brenzel
