A look inside 56 Leonard’s long-awaited amenity space

To live at the Alexico Group-Developed Tower 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca has required some patience from its buyers, considering units started closing nearly 10 years after the tower’s groundbreaking in 2007. When buyers were permitted to move in earlier this year, reports Curbed, they could not yet access the tower’s amenities.

But it appears the waiting game is finally over. New details and images, first spotted by Dezeen, flaunt the luxury condominium’s two-floor amenity space, which was designed by the building’s architect, Herzog & de Meuron. Compared with the tower’s glass-stacked exterior, the 17,000-square-foot suite is dominated by concrete, as seen in the space’s circular staircase. Tiny metallic tiles close in on a 75-foot swimming pool and adjacent steam room, capping off the industrial feel of the ninth and 10th floors.

Other perks include an indoor-and-outdoor movie theater, hot tub, sun deck, private dining room, children’s playroom, fitness center and yoga studio.

Despite the project getting off to a slow start, several buyers are seeking to make a quick profit off their units at the tower. In February, a mystery owner listed their condo for $35 million after buying the four-bedroom penthouse for $29 million just weeks earlier.
