“Pride and Prejudice” house could be your Mr. Darcy

For many Jane Austen fans there is only one film adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” that will do, and that’s the BBC’s 1995 miniseries. Well, now one lucky fan will get to live their late Georgian era fantasies to the fullest in the English country house where Colin Firth (as Fitzwilliam Darcy) professed his love for Elizabeth Bennett (Jennifer Ehle) in the series.

Located in the Cotswolds, Luckington Court (fictionally, Longbourn) has hit the market asking $11.6 million. It’s the first time the home has listed in 70 years, according to Country Life.

The estate boasts over 150 acres, a seven-bedroom house, stables, five cottages and farm buildings.

“Running through the estate is the fledgling Bristol Avon fed by seasonal springs . . . of which the 17th-century writer John Aubrey wrote: ‘[the] fine spring . . . cures the itch and Scabbe; it hath done much good to the eies,’” Country Life notes.

We don’t know much about the rest of the property, for instance, photos of the interiors have not been released — and it doesn’t look like we’ll be learning much more anytime soon. The New York Post gave the Cirencester office of Strutt & Parker, which is listing the property, a call. They were told that the owners have asked that the cease marketing the property. We’re guessing they got too many calls asking in Firth comes with the house. [NYP | Country Life]
