“Golf, my dear fellow, is the infallible test,” P.G. Wodehouse once wrote. “The man who can go into a patch of rough alone, with the knowledge that only God is watching him, and play his ball where it lies, is the man who will serve you faithfully and well.”

At The Real Deal‘s seventh annual golf event, however, the objective was not a solo mission, but schmoozing of the highest order.

Over 200 real estate professionals put aside the Monday blues and made the trek over to Colonial Springs Golf Club in East Farmingdale. The first hour may have been spent indoors waiting for the rain to let up, but once that happened, it was an afternoon of competition and deal-making. Top brokers discussed how best to navigate the city’s evolving retail market, and lenders said they were very much looking to do business.
