Queens developer planning 80-unit resi building in Jamaica

Building at 148-18 Hillside Avenue would span nearly 80K sf

Queens developer Chung Lam intends to replace a one-story building in Jamaica with an 80-unit, nine-story residential building.

The project at 148-18 Hillside Avenue would span 79,480 square feet, with the residential units taking up 71,909 square feet and the remaining 7,571 square feet taken up by commercial space, according to plans filed with the Department of Buildings on Wednesday.

Lam did not respond to a request for comment.

The property is located next to 148-36 Hillside Avenue, where George Xu’s Century Development Group is planning a 15,888-square-foot commercial building. Xu is planning a 90-unit residential building in Jamaica as well at 148-29 90th Avenue, and Zara Realty recently purchased a pair of buildings in the neighborhood at 88-22 Parsons Boulevard and 89-21 153rd Street for $20 million.
