Retail broker Darrell Rubens has landed at RKF following his recent departure from Winick Realty Group.

Rubens worked at Winick for roughly 21 years before leaving two months ago, the Commercial Observer reported. At the time, he denied that he had a falling out with Jeff Winick, the head of the company.

Rubens brokered the Biscuit & Bath lease at 71 Broadway shortly before leaving the firm, and in May of last year negotiated a deal for the Sylvester Stallone and Justin Bieber-backed boxing gym, Rumble, alongside former colleague Lee Block. The trendy gym took landlord Samy Mahfar’s entire five-story building at 1495 Third Avenue on the Upper East Side.

RKF took the No. 1 spot on The Real Deal’s December ranking of Manhattan’s top retail brokerages, 1.13 million square feet of space across 203 deals between Oct. 1, 2016 and Sept. 30, 2017. Its clients have included Apple, Forever 21 and J. Crew. The firm was the second most active in Brooklyn following Winick, which leased 163,109 feet across 21 deals in the borough during the same time period. [CO]Eddie Small
