If the shoe fits: Nine West co-founder’s Water Mill estate with $72M asking price sells
Vince Camuto’s Water Mill estate has been on and off the market for 10 years, and now it has reportedly found a buyer. The 19th-century mansion known as Villa Maria was listed with Bespoke Real Estate for $72 million, but the final sale price and the new owner of the 15-acre property on Mecox Bay are not yet known. The Nine West co-founder — who died in 2015 — and his wife Louise bought the estate in 2005 for $35 million and did a massive renovation before listing it in 2008 for $100 million. [WWD]

StreetEasy replaces HREO with Out East
Hamptons Real Estate Online, long the go-to site for Hamptons listings, is no more. StreetEasy, which bought the dial-up era listing site last year, is redirecting visitors to Out East, a new site that pairs historical sales data with neighborhood guides and granular search functions. Like HREO, Out East charges brokers to use the listing service, and while brokerages pay $1,000 a month plus $60 per month for each active agent, StreetEasy said it lowered the cost for brokers by an average of 35 to 40 percent. Sky-high taxes: Southampton to assess property taxes from the air
An eye in the sky will help Southampton Town reassess properties for the 2019 tax season. A contractor will fly over the town and snap aerial photos of yards and compare them to fly-over assessments from 2016. If differences are spotted, the tax assessor’s office will investigate and decide if a property’s taxable value needs to be updated. [Southampton Press]

Consultants recommend dramatic changes to Montauk to fend off sea-level rise
Consultants hired by East Hampton to plan for the future of the hamlets of Wainscott, East Hampton, Springs, Amagansett and Montauk reported back to the town with ideas to protect them from sea-level rise. The most dramatic changes were proposed for the downtown and harbor areas of Montauk, where the recommendation is to buy-out businesses and move them inland. The consultants also suggested changes across the area to rebuild beaches and dunes as a buffer against storm surges. [EHS]
