Modern Spaces will not give up its strongholds in Queens without a fight.

The brokerage has tapped Brown Harris Stevens veteran Miles Chapin to be the senior managing director for its Long Island City and Chelsea sales offices. He will focus on supervising agents and providing guidance on all real estate deals.

Modern Spaces has moved aggressively to secure its status as one of the top real estate brokerages in Queens, suing Compass in February for allegedly targeting its agents and stealing its confidential data to gain a foothold in the borough. Compass has denied the claims.

Chapin has been in the real estate industry for 15 years and worked at Warburg Realty Partnership before BHS. He has also served as co-chair of REBNY’s Residential Brokerage Queens Committee since 2015, when it was formed.

Modern Spaces appeared on a pair of Real Deal rankings last year, coming in at number six for the firms with the most unsold units, with $746.8 million worth of inventory, and at number 10 for the firms with the most closed sales, with $251.1 million in sales volume.
