Harrison, New York is where many of the highest-earning people in the northeast U.S. prefer to live, among a population with an average annual income of $976,200.

Based on a Bloomberg analysis of national tax filings, most of the northeast region’s wealthiest people live in New York’s tri-state area, but not in Manhattan or the city itself. Instead, they prefer the suburbs, with a healthy commute to boot. Of the top 20 zip codes with the top incomes in the region, half were located in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut commuter towns.
