WATCH: TRD talks Sheepshead Bay, affordable housing on PIX 11

Neighborhood has seen several large new residential developments

Eddie Small, reporter for The Real Deal, appeared on PIX 11’s “Talk It Out with Jay Dow” Thursday to discuss Sheepshead Bay and affordable housing.

Small recently wrote an article and co-produced a video for TRD about the changes coming to the South Brooklyn neighborhood, which has recently seen the arrival of several large new residential projects from companies like Rybak Development, AvalonBay Communities and Muss Development. He discussed these projects with Dow and their impact on the neighborhood’s housing stock and infrastructure.

“One of the main concerns I actually heard in reporting the Sheepshead Bay piece was moreso about infrastructure, honestly, than about rents and home prices going up,” Small said. “There are a lot of new housing units coming in here. What’s that going to mean in terms of traffic? What’s that going to mean in terms of schools?”

Small appeared on the show’s panel with PIX 11 reporter Henry Rosoff and deputy director for policy and research at the Center for NYC Neighborhoods Caroline Nagy.
