The National Labor Relations Board is requiring the steamfitters union to stop illegal actions against firms doing work at Hudson Yards.

Hudson Yards Construction had filed an NLRB complaint accusing Steamfitters Local 638 of going on an illegal strike at 55 Hudson Yards to try coercing contractors and companies to work with Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local instead, according to the New York Post.

The union will have to post notices reading, “WE WILL NOT engage in, or induce or encourage individuals employed by KSW Mechanical LLC, or any other person engaged in commerce or in an industry affecting commerce, to engage in a strike.”

Labor issues have been a consistent problem at Hudson Yards. Chief builder and Related Companies subsidiary Hudson Yards Construction has frequently butted heads with the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York. [NYP]  – Eddie Small
