FYI: The trendiest “new” place in NYC for a power lunch
Since the Four Seasons Restaurant reopened, a stream of high-profile patrons have been spotted lunching in the famous landmark
The famous Four Seasons Restaurant is back and receiving a warm, if not curiosity-driven, reception–at least based on recent reservations.
Former State Department secretary Henry Kissinger, Museum of Modern Art president Marie-Josée Kravis and chairman of Tishman Speyer, Jerry Speyer are among the guests who’ve flocked to newly-renovated restaurant, according to the New York Post.
The original 1959 restaurant, located in the Seagram Building, was shut down two years ago for a renovation and relocation after owner RFR Holdings’ Aby Rosen kicked out the establishment’s co-owners Alex von Bidder and Julian Niccolini, as Town & Country reported.
Rosen has since transformed the former premises of the officially landmarked restaurant–it was designed by Philip Johnson and a team of myriad celebrated artists, architects and designers, which the architect had assembled to create custom furniture and other interior elements all in the International Style–into two separate restaurants, The Pool and The Grill.
Von Bidder and Niccolini, on the other hand, have since spent $30 million on their new iteration of the Four Seasons restaurant, which opened in August at its new location, 42 East 49th Street. The new Four Seasons was designed by Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld with executive chef Diego Garcia of Hell’s Kitchen seafood restaurant Gloria setting the menu. [NYP]—Erin Hudson
