Developer Alan Bell is moving forward with the first half of his Williamsbridge Gardens project in the Bronx.

Bell filed plans for an eight story, 87-unit building spanning about 76,000 square feet at 722 East 212th Street with the Department of Buildings on Saturday. The overall project will include 170 units across 169,000 square feet, and Bell said he intends to file plans for the second building soon and develop them both at the same time.

The project will include 51 units for formerly homeless families, and amenities will include a children’s library and computer lab, according to Bell’s website.

Bell’s company B&B Urban went under contract last November to buy the development site for the project from Ace Tents Amusement Corp, a Yonkers-based traveling carnival company. He purchased the site in March for $8 million, according to property records.

His other projects include a 100-unit affordable housing building at 315 Linwood Street in Cypress Hills and a 136-unit supportive housing project at 2700 Jerome Avenue in the Bronx.
