Scott Klein, who led one of Douglas Elliman’s top teams in Brooklyn, just moved to Compass.

“I felt it was time to have another experience,” Klein said. “I’m a person who believes in growth, in change.” He indicated an interest to expand his business into San Francisco.

Several members of Klein’s team are also making the move to Compass, including Paul Hyun, Elizabeth Vilarino, Deborah Hollon, Lisa Holler and Steve Nelson. In March, the team placed third in Elliman’s company awards, dubbed the “Ellies,” both by gross commission income and number of deals.

Compass currently has three Brooklyn offices, and leased a fourth, 11,000 square-foot space at 333 Schermerhorn Street in October. The brokerage did $1.53 billion in Brooklyn deals in 2017, according to an analysis by The Real Deal. Elliman was just above them for that year, with $1.56 billion in deals.
