Elena Sapir, the widow of the late real estate mogul Tamir Sapir, has found a buyer for her $6.5 million pad at Trump Tower.

The three-bedroom condominium unit, located on the 58th floor of the Midtown condo tower, was asking $2,098 per square foot. An unknown buyer paid “very close” to the asking price, said listing broker Charlotte Van Doren of the Corcoran Group.
Van Doren said her client had an accepted offer within 48 hours of listing the pad. “It was a really sweet price per foot,” she said. “The consumer is really value driven in this market.”

Sapir bought the apartment in 1994 for an undisclosed sum, records show. In 2006, the Sapir Organization put up the condo as collateral when it received a $40 million loan from HSBC.

That same year, Sapir paid $40 million for the Duke-Semans mansion, which he planned to convert into a 20,000-square-foot museum to house his massive ivory collection. Instead, in 2010, Sapir sold the mansion for $44 million to Mexican telecom magnate Carlos Slim.

Sapir married Elena Sapir after divorcing his first wife, Bella, in 2001. Bella is the mother of Alex and his sister Zina, who recently split from developer Rotem Rosen. Tamir Sapir died in 2014.

Elena Sapir and her two children were among those evacuated from Trump Tower in 2018 during a blaze that broke out in the 50th-floor apartment of an art dealer who died in the fire.

Sales at the 231-unit building has been hurt by the Trump name and the building’s heavy security presence. Of 13 condos that sold since 2016, the majority sold at a loss, according to a recent analysis by Bloomberg. (Several units sold at a 20 percent discount.)

Van Doren said the building’s moniker was a non-issue. “The building is beautifully run,” she said. “When I sell at Trump buildings, I never see the buyers who aren’t interested. They just don’t make appointments.”
