Top broker in Greenwich jumps to Houlihan Lawrence

The Metalios Group was previously at William Raveis Real Estate

One of the top brokers in tony Greenwich, Connecticut is switching sides.

Joy Kim Metalios’ team has moved from William Raveis Real Estate to Houlihan Lawrence, the brokerage announced Tuesday. The Metalios Group closed $78 million in sales last year, the only team in Greenwich to make Real Trends’ 2019 ranking.

Metalios said the switch was due to Houlihan’s dominance in the market, though she noted that she spoke to “every office in town” before making the move.

“Having market share and really understanding the market here in Greenwich is very powerful,” she said. “I would lose listings to Houlihan Lawrence because they had such market share.”

At William Raveis, Metalios’ team included a four-person staff and eight agents. It’s unclear who on Metalios’ team is moving with her, but she said that her group will not be setting up shop in Houlihan’s offices. Instead, she’s purchased a building at 400 East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich’s Cos Cob neighborhood where her new offices will be based.

In an interview with The Real Deal, Metalios said she chose to go to Houlihan because of its in-house resources and its roster of top-producing agents who also work in Fairfield and Westchester counties.

“There are so many pocket listings,” she said.
